So, today's post is another review on some stuff i picked up almost two weeks ago, Ive been desperate to review these bad boys as they quite literally are some of my best purchases, ever. However i held off, because i don't see the point in reviewing something i haven't tried yet or have only used once, just because it smells good or looks good and also using something once doesn't tell you, or your readers, whether its worth buying. So i decided to wait and use them over a couple of weeks so i could do a fair review.
Now, i basically decided i wanted a product that works. As i mentioned in my soap and glory review i do have sensitive skin, which does react to an awful lot of spot treatments (nightmare, i know!) This really frustrates me, because even 'sensetive skin' branded products make me all red and blotchy, and i realise it's not just me! I decided lush cosmetics was a good place to start, as the lush in my town offer a lot of assistance, and i think that's what you need if you really are a bit of a disaster when it comes to finding things that work for you! So i took a trip to lush and was served by a brilliant woman who showed me and helped me test, everything they had for sensitive skin. (click the names of the products to view them)
The search for a cleanser
I was shown all manner of things, i tried the fresh pharmacy facial soap, which if I'm honest isn't for me, i wasn't too keen on rubbing a bar of soap on my face... That might just be me! But i do prefer to use liquid cleansers! Next i was shown something i didn't buy but was given a sample of by the assistant, its the ultra bland cleanser. I have tried this on nights when i don't shower mostly to remove make up from my skin and leave it healthier (I would defenitly use this as a make up remover if you wear make up often as it gets it off so quickly and easily!) My problem is the smell, i don't know what that smell is but i hate it! For me it can only be described like a really old library smell. (I'm so sorry for these descriptions) It just smells bland, as there is no flavour to it, which for me is important! however i then moved on to the real babe; the herbalism cleanser. I'm going to marry this cleanser. I'm sorry but it has come to this. Ive fallen in love with a cleanser, is that so wrong? The texture of this is not, no matter how much i love it, a normal one. In the pot it literally appears like green play doh! However you ad water to it and create a liquid paste which you then rub on your face. It's the best thing ever. It gives off a really herb smell. gosh don't i sound stupid! sorry for that description, but it is just a herb smell. (it was either herb or spicy salad smell... What is wrong with me today?) Any who, this creates a really soft feel to your face, in no way does it sting or make you go red. It's perfect. within a day its dried out spots. which is fantastic! as that's exactly what you want from a spot treatment. for me this is now a facial routine staple. I'll be buying this until.. Forever!the perfect toner
I was only shown one toner, and that was the Eau roma water, and to be honest i didn't really need to try anything else, its prefect, It contains both lavender and rose water. Its these smells that create a really calming effect as the toner is described as an aromatherapy water. I agree really its a completely calming smell, both in your skin and mentally. I do use this day and night after using herbalism and in the day its a gorgeous smell to carry, on a night its a really soothing smell. Not only this but its reduced redness so much! My skin looks a lot more natural and less irritated!
The expensive moisturiser
I sadly did not buy vanishing cream (silent crying) however i did get given a tester pot, which contained a teaspoon wroth of it. I can understand why as at the price you wouldn't be giving out barrels of it but when it runs out I'm going to have to go back in with a bowlers hat and a moustache and try to get another sample... That was a joke.. (sort of) however i love it so much! I use it after cleansing and toning to protect the pores from spots developing and i love it. My skin feel mega soft (I'm not kidding you have to try this stuff to see, it makes you all baby soft!) Not only this but the smell is beautiful and you don't need to use loads, just a couple of dabs and your face is covered! but as i said i didnt buy this, i just couldn't bare to spend £17.50 on a tub of moisturiser, no matter how expensive most are! but it will be on my birthday list (i can promise you that)
So that was a little lush review, i hope that if you do suffer from sensitive skin i have helped you here, and if not you do try out these things, as they aren't just for sensitive skin! I hope to see you all back here tomorrow for Fridays January wish list! But i do have a little post coming up on my first ever glossy box! So look out for that! i wish you all the best and hope you enjoyed reading!
